Using the PageCounter Communications Tool

Resending Terminal Firmware, Validation, or

Configuration

Click the

Force Device Updates

link to open a new window with the terminal update

options described in the following table.

Note:

The accounting system software will automatically update the software within the
terminals. The Resend Firmware feature enables you to perform the update manually
should there be a problem within the system. The firmware is retrieved from the
directory

C:\<ControlSystemFolder>\PCPComm\Upload_BIN.

The TIM Timer must be on to allow the Create PCPro Database task to run
automatically. This task sends the DBF files to Upload DB from where all the
validation tables are then sent to the terminals.

Each time a terminal is added to the system, you need to create a config file for that
terminal using the following naming convention

{terminalname}_CONFIG.txt

.

The specific naming convention of the config file lets the accounting system software
know which config files belong to which terminals. Config files need to be stored in the
directory

C:\<ControlSystemFolder>\PCPComm\Upload_CONFIG

.

Select the checkbox options you want to apply to specific terminals.

Click on

Save Changes

to perform the selected operations.

Click on

Clear All

to clear all selections made within the Update tab.

Note:

If any of the terminals are not communicating with the system, the Clear All button will
only clear the selected options for the terminal that is not communicating. To clear all
the selected options, either clear them separately by clicking on each option, or close
Internet Explorer and re-access the Communications Tool again.

Enables you to update the terminal firmware
manually.

Resend All Validation

Enables you to send all user and client data
from the system to each terminal.

Force Updates

Enables you to send updated User and Client
data from the system to each terminal.

Resend Configuration

Enables you to manually send the

config.txt

file to terminals.
