Prepare the iSCSI servers
Assign IP addresses to NICs or iSCSI HBAs
Assign an IP address to each initiator port on the server’s NICs or iSCSI HBAs.
For NICs:
1. Open the appropriate Microsoft networking tool provided with the operating
system, such as Network Connections.
2. Select the NIC.
3. Set the IP address as described in the Microsoft documentation.
For QLogic iSCSI HBAs
:
1. Open QLogic SANsurfer as described in the QLogic documentation.
2. Use SANsurfer to set the IP address of the HBA.
Install failover (path management) software
If you have path management software other than PowerPath, install it on each
server as described in the software documentation. Install PowerPath on each server
as follows:
1. Locate the PowerPath CD and license key that came with the PowerPath kit.
Each server connected to the CX3-40c requires a separate PowerPath license.
2. Insert the CD into the server’s CD drive to begin the installation.
3. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard, using the defaults.
Install the Navisphere Server Utility
You will use the Navisphere Server Utility later to register the server HBAs with the
storage system. If you have not already installed the server utility from the
CLARiiON Core Server Support CD, install it now, accepting all the defaults.
