Install - Step 7 (iSCSI)
Prepare the iSCSI servers
If you do not intend to use the iSCSI data ports on your system, skip this section. If
you have already completed your Fibre Channel connections, continue with Step 11
on page 32; instructions for setting up a Fibre Channel environment begin with
"Prepare the Fibre Channel servers" on page 18.
You cannot connect the same server to both the iSCSI front-end ports and the Fibre Channel
front-end ports of a CX3-40c storage system.
To prepare each server connected (directly or through a switch) to the storage system
iSCSI ports:
•
Install network interface cards (NICs) and iSCSI host bus adapters (HBAs) and
their drivers (this page).
•
Install NIC or HBA initiator configuration software (page 25).
•
Assign IP addresses to the NICs or HBAs (page 26).
•
Install failover software (such as PowerPath software) on the servers connected to
the storage system(page 26).
•
Install the Navisphere Server Utility (page 26).
Install NICs, HBAs, and drivers
On each server, install NICs, HBAs, the appropriate drivers, and any required driver
updates (such as service packs, hot fixes, or patches). Use the instructions in the
manuals that shipped with the NICs/HBAs or that are available on the vendor’s
website. Be sure to reboot the server after the driver installation or update is
complete.
