A repeater can also be configured with up to 4 address list filters. Filters can be either pass or reject
and include up to 32 address ranges in each single list. Each address range entry can be a single
address or a range. Ranges are automatically merged or split entries are added or removed from the
each list.
By default, a repeater will also accept ALERT concentration messages into the RS-485 port, then
store and forward via radio. This feature can be used to setup a ALERT1 system migration unit at a
repeater site by using another ERTA2 running as a receiver in ALERT1 mode and linking it to the
repeater with a short, twisted pair link. See system design section for overview of migration options.
When using this configuration type the two units can share the same antenna by using a
splitter/combiner. See your reseller for more information.
Note: The RS-485 input is not available when SDI-12 is configured as a sensor input.
Secondary communication port allows a secondary or redundant communications path to be created
to using cellular, satellite or through RS-232 to other communications mediums.
Base Receiver
The communications configuration is usually used for the unit that is located at the system base or
network access point.
The base receiver unit is usually located near the antenna to allow antenna cable to be short as
possible to minimise losses. The receiver RS-485 will output ALERT2 data frames which is usually
connected by RS-485 to a 115E-2-A2 ALERT2 Decoder-Gateway unit which can be located at a
network access point in server room or IT cabinet.
A receiver can also be configured address filtering in a similar way as repeater in the above section.
The base receiver can be configured for either ALERT2 or ALERT1 (Binary and Enhanced-IFLows).
Cellular Communications Setup
Once you have selected 4G Modem the communications menu will change to allow for the 645M-4
4G/LTE modem connection to the ERTA2 and its network connection details to be configured.
Communications Menu:
a) Communication Mode => 4G Modem
Reporting
Select the type of primary communications
installed in the unit. Options are Integrated
Radio Reporting (VHF or UHF radio), Cellular or
Satellite. Default is Integrated Radio
Reporting.
b) Communication Protocol => ALERT2
ASCII Protocol
Select ALERT2 Binary, ALERT2 ASCII or ALERT1
(legacy) protocol.
c) Unit Type => Field Station
For cellular or satellite communications only
Field Station type is available.
d) 4G Dest IP Address / Host Name
Data TCP connection destination IP address or
host name. Format xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, for example
203.36.148.7
e) 4G Dest TCP Port Number
Data TCP connection destination port number.
Range is 0- 65353.
Configuration of both the 645M-4 cellular modem and ERTA2 is required for correct operation of the
communications channel.
