Configuration Quick Start Guide
This guide is intended to give the user steps to follow to get a ERTA2 unit quickly up and running in
an environment or industrial monitoring application.
To access the user menu you will need to use a USB type A to Type B cable. This is usually the type
of USB cable you would get with a printer or scanner or see your ELPRO dealer for this accessory.
See installation guide for the initial steps to install a term program on your PC and connect to the
ERTA2 unit.
Once you have a connection with the terminal software you will see a user login menu.
User Type: Menu:
a) Engineer
b) Technician
Login as Engineer which will give full access to configuration using option a above and the default
password is
“
Elproeng
”
. For reference, the default password for the Tech
nician is “Elprotech”.
You will then be presented with a menu as below:

a) Unit Config
Configuration of unit/station parameters
b) I/O Setup
Setup of discrete, analog, SDI-12 and internal inputs
c) Set Accumulators
Set or reset value of pulsed accumulator discrete inputs
d) Unit Diagnostic
Range of diagnostic functions, firmware update, etc
e) Change Password
Change the Engineer or Technical user passwords
f) Set Date & Time
Change data/time. Note: Unit will obtain current time/date
from GPS or Cellular/Satellite network if connected
g) Show/Save Configuration
Display and save configuration changes
h) Exit
Exit menu and return to login menu. Menu will timeout if
you do not exit.
To navigate the menus simply press the letter corresponding to the menu item you wish to access. If
you want to return to the previous menu then hit the <enter> or any other key that is not a menu
item.
To begin configuring the unit select options
“
Unit Config
”
which provide the unit with the initial
provisioning information.
“Unit configuration”
menu is shown below.
Unit Config Menu:
a) Communication
Selects the Communication menu where you can configure
radio, cellular, satellite or RS-232 details to make connection
for primary and secondary communication ports.
b) Station Address
Unit station address, range of 1 to 65534
c) Update Time
Enter general sensor report update time in minutes. Best to
keep this value large for best energy consumption. Default is
180 minutes. Maximum value is 100000 minutes (69 days).
d) Paralysis Time
Enter the time in seconds that the unit will wait after sending
an event before it will send again. This feature will effectively
limit the rate of event transmissions to conserve energy
