6.2. Servicing the refrigerant
Detailed rules of conduct and safety rules that must be strictly observed during all work with the
refrigerant are described in detail in chapter 2.2. Precautions when servicing the unit charged with R290
in this manual.
The basic rules of conduct are as follows:
1.
Gas / vapor is heavier than air. It may accumulate in confined spaces, especially at or below ground
level.
2.
Eliminate all possible sources of ignition.
3.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
4.
Evacuate unnecessary personnel, isolate and ventilate the room.
5.
Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothes. Do not inhale vapors or gas.
6.
Prevent from reaching sewage system and public waters.
7.
Contain (contain) the source of the gas release (leak) if safe to do so. Consider using water spray to
disperse the fumes.
8.
Isolate the area until the gas is dispersed. Ventilate the room and perform a gas test before entering
the room. After the leak, contact the competent services (fire brigade).
Warning!
Do not touch the surface of the evaporator with bare hands as this may cause injury.
