Checking the Protocol

What’s a Protocol

A protocol is language convention used by the printer to imitate typical behaviour of similar
printers by means of instructions that determine operations similar to the emulated printer.

Your printer offers three different kinds of resident protocols: the DEC PPL2, IBM Proprinter
XL24E and the Epson ESC/P2.

Setting the Protocol

The settings of your printer are selectable in Set-Up mode. The following table shows factory
settings:

The factory settings are compatible with most of the currently available configurations.

If these settings correspond with the settings of your computer, you can go straight to the
paragraph "Printing a Test Page", otherwise see Chapter 6 "Configuring Your Printer" in the User
Guide for how to set-up your DIGITAL Matrix Printer LA400plus.

Note:

When using the printer driver for Windows, the EPSON ESC/P2 protocol is forced by
the software commands.
