2.9 Bootstrapping the System
The initial power-up display appears on the console terminal in about 1.5
minutes. If you see a display similar to the following, your system has
passed all power-up tests, and the terminal’s keyboard language has been
set:

The system now boots the internal RZ disc drive. If the boot is successful, the
console screen displays a message like the following:

2.9.3 Recovering from Bootstrap Failures
If the InfoServer system fails to boot, follow these steps:
1.
Remove any CDROM you currently have in the internal RRD42 drive. The
system attempts to boot from this drive if the drive contains a bootable
disc.
2.
Turn the system off and turn it on again.
If the system fails to boot with no CDROM in the RRD42 drive, the internal
RZ disc might be corrupted.
Use the following procedure to install the software from the InfoServer
Software CDROM to the internal RZ disc. This procedure erases the contents
of the interal disc and updates the disc with the software from the InfoServer
Software CDROM. The procedure should take less than 60 seconds.
1.
Make sure the system unit’s

power switch is off ( O ).
2.
Connect the console terminal, turn it on, and allow it to warm up.
3.
Insert the InfoServer Software CDROM into the internal RRD42 drive.
4.
Turn the system unit’s
l O
switch on ( l ).
5.
The display shown in step 3 of Section 2.9.2 appears.
6.
The
Enter Password:
prompt appears.
