2.8 Turning Off the System
Turn off your equipment in the following order, by setting the
l O
switches to
O (off):
1.
Console terminal
2.
Expansion boxes
3.
System unit
2.9 Bootstrapping the System
Once the server is booted and running, the diagnostic LEDs on the back of
the box light up, rotating from right to left. The following sections explain
the automatic and manual processes for booting the server. Use the manual
process only if the automatic process fails.
2.9.1 Bootstrapping the System Automatically Without a Console
The InfoServer system’s bootstrap program and operating software are
programmed onto the system’s internal RZ drive at the factory. After the
power-up display, the server attempts to boot automatically from the internal
drive.
If the diagnostic LEDs on the back of the InfoServer system are not rotating
from right to left after the system has been given time to boot, follow
instructions in Section 2.9.3.
2.9.2 Starting the System with a Console, Only If Necessary
To start your system with a console, , follow these steps:
1.
Turn on any expansion boxes connected to your system.
2.
Turn on the console terminal connected to MMJ port 1.
Note
Allow time for the console terminal to complete its power-up sequence.
Otherwise, you will not be able to view the system power-up self-test
display.
3.
Turn on the system unit by setting the
l O
power switch on the rear of
the system unit to the ( l ) position.
