I/O Connectors
Parallel Connector
The 25-pin connector is used to connect the parallel port of a device such as a printer. It sup-
ports SPP, ECP and EPP standards.
SPP
(Standard Parallel Port)
Allows normal speed operation but in one
direction only.
ECP
(Extended Capabilities Port)
Allows parallel port to operate in bidirectional
mode and at a speed faster than the SPP’s data
transfer rate.
EPP
(Enhanced Parallel Port)
Allows bidirectional parallel port operation at
maximum speed.

SATA (Serial ATA) Connectors
• 2 Serial ATA 3.0 ports
- SATA port 0 and 1 with data transfer rate up to 6Gb/s
• Integrated Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) controller with Intel
®

Features
The Serial ATA connectors are used to connect the Serial ATA device. Connect one end of the
Serial ATA data cable to a SATA connector on the mainboard and the other end to your Serial
ATA device.
The power cable must be connected from the mainboard’s Serial ATA power connector to a
SATA drive’s power connector in order to provide power to the drive. Refer to the next page
for pin definitions of the SATA power connectors.
BIOS Setting
Configure the Serial ATA drives in the Advanced menu (“SATA Configuration” submenu) of the
BIOS. Refer to Chapter 7 for more information.
