COM (Serial) Ports
COM1 to COM3 can be selected among RS232, RS422 and RS485 via jumper settings. In addi-
tion, COM1 and COM2 can be switched between normal RS232 and RS232 with power. For pin
definitions and jumper selection for different communication modes, please refer to Chapter 4.
The serial ports are asynchronous communication ports with 16C550A-compatible UARTs that
can be used with modems, serial printers, remote display terminals, and other serial devices.
• BIOS Setting
Configure the serial ports with more advanced options such as the RS485 auto flow mecha-
nism in the Advanced menu (“Super IO Configuration” submenu) of the BIOS. Refer to Chapter
7 for more information.
COM1 to COM3:
RS232/RS422/RS485
This three-pole terminal block connector terminal block connector provides options of power
input solution: 100W, 120W, and 160W. Connect a DC power cord to this jack. Using a volt-
age higher than the recommended one may fail to boot the system or cause damage to
the mainboard.
