Putting the system into operation
- Putting the PABX system into operation.
Before putting the PABX system into operation it must be configured.
- Propagation time measurement
Measure the propagation times of the cables of the PABX system. The results will be stored
in the system automatically.
- Check that the stored propagation time measurement results are correct. Read out the val-
ues using the SPC and ensure that these are correct by measuring the resistance. The SPC
displays values as cable lengths.
If at any point the correct connection of twisted pairs was not observed, then this can
cause false reflections of the measuring pulse. This will result in the wrong (i.e. too short)
cable length being stored into the PABX system.
Wrong cables or incorrect signal propagation times can cause high bit-error rates on the
cable.
An increase in bit-error rates leads to connections being sporadically cut off.
Faulty signal propagation time settings cause audible interference (scratching noises) when
trying to hand over a PP connection.
- Putting the FPs into operation
Remove the shorting plugs and connect the FPs.
- Put the PPs into operation and set them up. Check the SW level and, if necessary, update
using the download kit.
