“Scanner” is used to set up how the BHT reads barcodes.
To open the barcode menu, double tap the
“Scanner” icon in the System
Properties.
INVERT: Enables or disables inverted barcodes to be read.
DECODE LEVEL: Selects the decode level.
ITF: Selects the minimum number of digits for ITF.
STF: Selects the minimum number of digits for STF.
CODABAR: Selects the minimum number of digits for
CODABAR.
Read Parameter: Launch the menu for barcode reading parameter
(refer to 4.8 Scanner Reading Parameter).
INVERT (Black-and-white inverted code reading function)
Inverted barcodes are white bars on black backgrounds,
standard barcodes are black bars on white backgrounds.
Set either
“ON” for enabling inverted barcodes to be read or “OFF” for disabling inverted barcodes to be
read. Default is set to
“OFF”.

Note

Setting the INVERT to ON may increase the frequency of barcode read errors.
Setting the INVERT to OFF is recommended if not necessary. (inverted barcode
reading is disabled).
DECODE LEVEL
The decode level can be set from 1 to 9.
The default level is set to 4.
Lowering the level increases the barcode reading efficiency, however, misreading probability of
poor-quality barcodes (broken or dirty bars) also increases.
Raising the level decreases the barcode reading efficiency, and also decreases misreading probability of
poor-quality barcodes.
Select only the required level to reduce the misreading probability.
ITF, STF and CODABAR
The minimum number of digits to be read for ITF, STF and CODABAR can be changed.
Setting smaller numbers for each code increases probability of missing digits or misreading, depending on
various factors such as barcode reading conditions and barcode quality.
Setting larger numbers for each code decreases probability of missing digits or misreading.
Select only the required number to reduce the probability of missing digits or misreading.
