The S4 Warranty system (Dattrac)(UK Only)
Datatool offer a limited 3 year
parts
warranty to the initial owner of the S4 security system installed to the original machine
only. Remote controls carry a 12 month warranty. Misused or vandalised units will not be treated as warranty. The
warranty period extends to the end of the normal warranty period of the
original installed and registered
system only.
For the warranty to be active the owner MUST register their alarm within the first 30 days of ownership.
If the machine is sold to a new owner the warranty is cancelled unless the new owner re-registers the warranty to
themselves within 30 days of purchase of the machine. This is provided the system is still within its warranty period. The
re-registered warranty period is either the remainder of the original THREE year warranty, or TWO years from the date of
change of ownership of the machine to the new owner, whichever is the greater. Details for the transfer of ownership can
be seen at
www.datatool.co.uk
the service is chargeable and the current rate is detailed.
For the warranty to be transferred the system MUST be in good working order at that time. If there is a suspected fault at
the time of re-registration it must be corrected at the dealer’s or customer’s expense prior to re-registration.
Faults discovered during the installation of the alarm will be treated as warranty without the alarm being registered, as
long as they are not defects caused by poor installation practices or existing machine faults and will always be subject to
inspection of the alarm.
The Procedure
Any dealer who believes they may have a warranty claim must first contact Datatool (UK) on 0870 165 2414.
Many suspected warranty issues are not due to a faulty alarm. Other avenues such as the installation, machine faults,
operator error, etc should be isolated before a claim is made. The installation test box is a valuable tool in isolating many
faults and in most cases the dealer will be asked to use it as part of the warranty procedure. Failure to have an
installation tester increases diagnosis time and may invalidate some warranty claims. Should you not have an installation
tester please contact your Datatool regional manager.
The possible causes will be discussed and further tests may be advised. Only when Datatool (UK) is reasonably happy
that the fault probably lies with the alarm itself will a DATTRAC number be issued.
All machines will be checked that they have been registered for warranty unless the machine is under 30 days old. The
following details will be required as a minimum:
•
The
machine
registration
•
Your dealer details
•
The suspected fault
Once issued with the DATTRAC number, the suspect item must be returned by the dealer to Datatool (UK) for inspection.
The DATTRAC number MUST be clearly marked on the outside of the packaging and within the package itself. Datatool
(UK) cannot be held responsible for items lost in transit.
Datatool (UK) will inspect the returned item for the suspected fault and if found the faulty item will be repaired or replaced
and returned to the dealer. Datatool (UK) reserves the right to return any item where no fault can be found.
As the warranty is a
parts replacement
warranty, credits will not be issued, nor will claims for labour.
Any item sent to Datatool (UK) without a DATTRAC number being issued will be returned to the sending dealer untouched
(assuming we can ascertain who that is) at the dealer’s expense. Where the origin of an item cannot be established it will
be held for 30 days and then disposed of.
Items outside the standard warranty terms and conditions can be returned for inspection via the DATTRAC system, but
they will incur a standard inspection charge and possible further chargers for repair.
Dealers who have purchased Datatool products via International distributors and OE manufacturers should contact their
supplier for the correct procedure relating to their supply line.
Products other than the S4 supplied by Datatool (UK) have different warranty procedures applicable to them.
