S4 Installer operating guide
Welcome
Thank you for choosing the Datatool S4 alarm system as your preferred system. The system provides many unique
features designed to increase the protection machines or to customise its operation to meet the customer’s individual
requirements.
Some of these features can only be adjusted by you, the dealer and are dependent on local regulations.
Some of these options require extra work or components and therefore can be charged as extras to the standard
installation.
To avoid possible conflict we advise you to discuss the options available with your customer, prior to installation.
We also advise you read this manual carefully and keep it safe for future reference.
This manual covers the following products:
Datatool S4 C1 Red, Alarm/Immobiliser system (Insurance approved for all motorcycles).
Datatool S4 C221 Green, Alarm Upgrade System (Insurance approved for machines already complying with
Thatcham category 2 Immobilisation) (Please visit www.thatcham.org for the latest listings).
Datatool S4 C4 Yellow, Alarm/Immobiliser system (Insurance approved for machines up to 125cc’s).
Please be aware that insurance companies may on occasions apply other requirements regarding the cover of
machines.
Registering the system (UK only)
The top copy of the certificate of installation must be fully completed and returned to Datatool (UK) within 30 days of
completing the installation to register the system for warranty.
This can either be carried out by you the dealer or the owner of the motorcycle in the self-addressed envelope provided in
the kit. Failure to do this will mean the system is NOT covered for warranty.
The other copies of the certificate are used as follows.

Second copy (Blue)
Customer copy
•
Third copy (Yellow)
Insurers copy
•
Fourth copy (Green)
Dealer copy (If required).
If the certificate is not fully completed it will be returned to YOU the dealer to be correctly filled out.
If you are passing the certificate to the customer to send to us at Datatool (UK) it is important you tell the customer they
MUST send the fully completed top copy of the certificate to us within the 30 day period.
Photocopies of the certificate will not be accepted.
If the machine is sold to a second owner, the new owner can transfer the warranty to themselves and obtain a certificate
of installation in their name.
Failure to register the system on the Datatool (UK) register will mean a new certificate of installation cannot be issued as
we will have no details of the original installation.
Transfer of ownership is a chargeable service. Details are available on our website

The unique internal transponder ID tag.
(UK Only)
All S4 insurance approved security systems contain an internal transponder tag which is unique to that alarm.
Registration of the system adds this unique identification code to our database and enables the police to identify the alarm
in the event of theft. The unique code contained within the transponder can lead to the prosecution of any person or
persons in possession of the alarm. This technology has already resulted in many successful prosecutions and is an
additional deterrent to the would-be thief.
Please note:
For security reasons the internal ID tag can only be registered to the original machine the alarm was
installed to, therefore the alarm should never be transferred to a different machine.
Should the original machine be stolen the alarm will be registered to it and the owner would have a registered stolen part
on their current machine.
NOTE: If the machine is not registered for warranty, the unique ID tag will not be added to our system.
