Surface Cleaning Tips
Caution: Do not try to clean surfaces that are made of pressed paper, cardboard, or any surface that
is painted with a non-enamel paint.
Header/Top Pleats
Use an open nozzle at medium pressure to get in between the folds of fabric. Wipe the fabric immediately
(while it is still warm) with a towel. If the fabric is heavily soiled, pull the folds apart and lightly mist the
surface with a light detergent before vaporing.
Note:
Check the type of stains on fabric before you begin cleaning it. Treat food-dye or protein-based stains
with an appropriate agent for that type of stain first. If the fabric is extremely delicate, or yellowed from
age, it may be better to have it professionally dry-cleaned.
Sheers on One-Ply Fabric
If the drape is heavily soiled, mist the soiled areas very lightly with a gentle detergent. Do not use enough
to get the fabric wet. Use the Large Triangular Brush (35) on one side of the pleat at a medium pace (about
4 inches a second) from the top of the drape to the bottom, moving with another towel against the back side
of the drape at the same time. The vapor will go through the fabric and remove dirt from both sides
simultaneously.
Windows or Mirrors
If cleaning glass with vapor for the first time, clean with a Steam Squeegee (36) two times at low pressure.
First, to remove all old cleaning chemical residue from the pores and glass. Thereafter only one time for
regular cleaning. Remove leftover water with the dry side of the Steam Squeegee (36). For smaller
windows use the Large Triangular Brush (35) with a towel at low heat. Let is cool slightly before cleaning.
Note:
To remove imbedded soot (such as after a fire) or baked-on grease from glass use the Small Brass
Detail Brush (40).
Bathrooms
Fiberglass Fixtures
Tubs-
Use the Medium Round Nylon Brush (38) at low pressure. Scrub the bottom of the tub in all
directions with a non-abrasive detergent containing bleach. After cleaning, repeat the action with a
cleaning/whitening agent, such as Soft-Scrub with bleach, so the whitening particles can enter the pores of
the surface. Estimate 20-30 minutes per tub on the initial cleaning to completely remove all body oils and
soap scum from the pores of the fiberglass. Repeat every two to three months.
