3.2 USE OF SPECIAL OPTIONS:
Lip Vent Exhaust
H. Lip Vent Exhaust
Lip vent exhaust plenums are provided on some
Crest cleaning consoles to help remove vapors
from above the liquid surface in the tank(s).
Typically, the exhaust blower is not part of the
equipment purchased from Crest and must be
supplied by the facility. Customer's exhaust vent
source(s) must be manifolded to lip vent plenums
on the Crest console. The exhaust system must be
composed of non-rusting material that is compat-
ible with the chemicals being used in processing,
since a vapor of the chemicals will be present in
the exhaust.
To determine your exhaust requirements:
1.
Calculate the
area
of the tank opening
A = ( L x W ) ÷ 144
where: A = tank opening area in square feet
L = length of opening (front to back)
in inches
W = width of opening (left to right) in
inches.
2.
Calculate the
volume
of exhaust air
V = A x ( 150 cfm per ft
2
)
where: V = Volume (cfm)
A = tank opening area.
The result of calculation #2, expressed as
volume
(cfm)
, is the ventilation required for
each tank of comparable size. When sizing
an exhaust fan, assume 1-3" w.c. static
pressure for the entire system.
WARNING: Even with proper ventilation, as described
above, some trace odors may still be present in the
factory environment. Therefore, additional factory
ventilation may be required. Consult both the safety
information provided with the chemicals you are using
and the industrial regulations pertaining to your
locality.
