Solar Heating
Each solar systems requires the following additional equipment, a Solar Temperature Sensor
(model TS-5L), a Valve Actuator (model CVA-24T), and a solar valve (model SOL-2T).
• To install solar equipment
1. Discard clamp included with sensor kit. For unglazed panels, fasten sensor next to solar
panels. For glazed panels, suspend sensor between collector and glazing.
2. Run a 2-conductor cable from the sensor to the Power Center.
3. At the sensor, use crimp connectors (included) to provide waterproof connections. Before
making connections, cut off stripped ends of cable. Insert the 2 wires to be connected into
the connector and squeeze the connector with a pair of pliers. Two extra connectors are
included.
Caution Do not strip wires.
4. At the Power Center circuit board, connect sensor wires to the SPA SOL or POOL SOL
screw terminals. Pay attention to color-coding of wires.
5. Turn on the appropriate SYST configuration switch (SSOL and/or PSOL) located at the
bottom of the Power Center circuit board.
6. Connect solar Valve Actuator cord into AUX VLV socket at the Power Center circuit
board. Connect wire jumper between AUX VLV CNTRL socket SPA SOL and/or POOL
SOL socket.
7. If two solar systems are being installed, the valve module (model MOD-VLV) needs to be
installed. The second Valve Actuator cord is connected to VLV1 on the valve module and
a jumper is connected between CONTROL JUMPERS and SPA SOL or POOL SOL
socket.
Note Infield calibration of Solar Temperature Sensor(s) is required. See Calibration for details.
Solar Booster Pump Control
If a solar booster pump is being used, install relay kit (model RLY-LX) into Power Center. Plug
control wire of relay into SPA SOL or POOL SOL socket.
Two Speed Spa Filter Pump
If the system is equipped with a 2-speed spa filter pump, install a 2-speed relay kit (model RLY-
