Upgrading the Subsystem

4–4   DIGITAL PowerStorm 1000 Graphics Subsystem Owner's Guide

12.  Align the Video Memory Module with slot 8 and slide it into the deskside chassis.

13.  Push firmly on the Video Memory Module until it is seated in the connector and the

locking levers are locked.

14.  Reinstall the module hold-down bracket (see Section 5.5).

15.  Reinstall the left side panel (see Section 5.4).

4.3  Upgrading Full PowerStorm 1000 to High Resolution
PowerStorm 1000

The full PowerStorm 1000 graphics subsystem is upgraded to a high resolution
PowerStorm 1000 by installing the SN-PBXGM-UB upgrade option. This option consists
of a High Resolution Module and a HRM monitor cable.

Perform the following procedure to install the SN-PBXGM-UB upgrade option:

1.  Perform a normal system power down (see Section 5.2).

2.  Disconnect the VGA cable and the monitor cable from the Standard Resolution

Module.

3.  Remove the left side panel (see Section 5.4).

4.  Remove the module hold-down bracket (see Section 5.5).

5.  Put on an antistatic wriststrap.

An antistatic wriststrap must be worn when handling any board or module to
prevent damage to the board or module.

6.  Remove the Standard Resolution Module (see Section 5.13).

7.  Remove the High Resolution Module from the antistatic protective bag.

8.  Align the High Resolution Module with slot 9 and slide it into the deskside chassis.

9.  Push firmly on the High Resolution Module until it is seated in the connector and the

locking levers are locked.

10.  Tighten the captive thumb-screw on the left end of the High Resolution Module.

11.  Reinstall the module hold-down bracket (see Section 5.5).

12.  Reinstall the left side panel (see Section 5.4).

13.  Connect the HRM monitor cables to the connector on the High Resolution Module.
