Cabling the System
After all internal options have been installed and the access panels have been
replaced, connect the power cords and peripheral devices such as the
keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Icons on the back of the system identify the
function of each connector. Connecting the cabling for options is discussed in
detail later in this chapter.
WARNING:
To reduce risk of electric shock, fire, or damage to the equipment,
do not plug telephone or telecommunications connectors into the RJ-45
receptacle.
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the equipment:
■
Do not disable the power cord grounding plug. The grounding plug is an
important safety feature.
■
Plug the power cord into a grounded (earthed) electrical outlet that is
easily accessible at all times.
■
To disconnect power to the equipment, unplug the power cord from each
power supply.
CAUTION:
To make the system more failsafe, the Y power cords must be
installed as follows:
■
Each of the Y power cords must be connected to one shared storage
power supply and one server node power supply.
■
The Y power cords must be connected to different electrical circuits.
IMPORTANT:
Do not place anything on power cords or cables. Arrange them so that no
one may accidentally step or trip on them. Do not pull on a cord or cable. When
unplugging cords from the electrical outlet, grasp the cord by the plug.
