Removal and Replacement Procedures
5.16 Audio Assembly Bracket
The audio assembly bracket is located in the right rear area of the computer and covers
the PC Card assembly. The audio/USB board and modem board are secured to the audio
assembly bracket.
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Section 5.4).
2. Remove all battery pack(s) from the computer (Section 5.7).
3. Remove the keyboard assembly (Section 5.11).
4. Remove the audio/USB board (Section 5.14).
5. Remove the modem board (Section 5.15).
6. Remove the three screws

that secure the audio assembly bracket to the system
board and the screw

that secures the audio assembly bracket to the processor
module assembly (Figure 5-39).
7. Lift the audio assembly bracket out of the computer. Firm pressure is required to
remove it as it is attached to the processor module assembly by a thermal pad.
CAUTION:
To avoid damaging the PC Card assembly, lift the bracket straight up. Failure
to follow this caution can result in damage to the PC Card assembly.

Reverse the above procedure to install the audio assembly bracket.
