9.2.28. Fill the outer container with clean, potable water up to the 3 litre (middle) level
line embossed mark on the rear wall.
9.2.29. Set the toggle switch to LO and verify that the POWER ON LED is on.
9.2.30. When the POWER ON LED goes off again (i.e., water is at selected temperature), set
the toggle switch to OFF.
9.2.31. Fit the cover onto the main case ensuring that it is properly closed and secured by the
latch.
9.2.32. Turn off the power supply then disconnect the power supply cable from the control
panel.
9.2.33. Remove the HW & R from the host vehicle, place upright in a suitable work
location then unlatch and remove the cover.
9.2.34. Using a field mess spoon, add one spoonful of food service disinfectant to the
heated water in the outer container and stir thoroughly until fully dissolved.
9.2.35. Wait five minutes then drain-off one canteen cupful of the food service
disinfectant/heated water solution through the pull-action tap and discard.
9.2.36. Using the pull-action tap, drain-off the food service disinfectant/heated water
solution into the inner container until the level in the outer container falls to the
1.18 litres line embossed on the rear wall.
9.2.37. Fit the inner container into the main case taking care to not spill the food
service disinfectant/heated water solution.
9.2.38. To prevent the ingress of liquid into the interior of the cover, block-off the
small steam hole in the seal retaining plate using an easily removable means
(e.g., tapered wooden peg of suitable size).
