3.7.7

WLAN data transmission

For 17BPW…/17BPX… and 47BAW…/47BAX… series tools with WLAN data transmission,
wireless data transmission is possible instead of, or in addition to, infrared data transmission.
If an infrared connection and a wireless connection exist simultaneously, the infrared connection
takes priority.
The initial configuration of the WLAN parameters in the tool must take place via the infrared inter-
face. If the WLAN parameters already exist in the tool, for example from earlier programming, no
infrared connection is required and you need only enter the IP address.

Prerequisites for communication with the tool via WLAN

Different functions are available for WLAN data transmission depending on the tool configura-
tion. Additional functions are available for 17BPX… and 47BAX… series tools. This chapter
draws attention to the relevant differences.
• Port 4001 must not be blocked by a firewall.
• The access point must not block the MAC address of the tool.
• Entry of the access data is case-sensitive.
• The tools support channels 1 – 11 (2.412 – 2.462 GHz). Disable automatic channel selection

on the access point and use channels 1 – 11 only.
