Lubrication method

a) Long-term LUBRICATION 

Lubrication fittings are not necessary if relubrication is required only once a year. This is the case in many common applications.
During assembly, coat the bearings thoroughly with lubricant and fill the empty spaces on either sides with extra lubricant up to one-half or no more than two-thirds.
Take care not to overlubricate as excess lubricant may cause the bearings to overheat! 
Open and relubricate the bearing housings when performing general machine inspections or overhauls. Do so under clean conditions: clean the outsides of the housings, 
remove their caps, clean the bearings and their housings with white spirit, then coat them with lubricant.

b) Short-term LUBRICATION 

1) Lubrication with the motor off: self-lubricating bearings

If the charts specify lubrication frequencies that are too short to coincide with a general overhaul, the bearing housings may be equipped with lubrication fittings. A rough 
approximation of the quantity of lubricant to be added when topping-up can be determined by the following formula: 
G = 0.005 DxB, where: 
 

G = quantity of lubricant, in grammes

 

D = Outer diameter of the bearing, in mm

 

B = Width of the bearing, in mm

Lubrication can be performed when the machine is off or running. To evenly distribute the lubricant, the best option is to run the bearing at low speed.
It is important to always use the same grade of lubricant and to ensure that the surrounding conditions are clean. 
To avoid overfilling the bearing housings following several top-ups, open them now and then to drain the used lubricant.

More than 1 year

The machine can brought back into service without 
being relubricated provided it has been correctly 
stored.

Lubricate when commissioning the machine.

Relubricate several times in order to replace all the 
lubricant.
