Adjust the blowdown flow rate using a constant flow valve, a graduated glass, and a stopwatch. After adjusting the flow rate, insert the purge pipe back into the water drain
pipe.
7. FAN SECTION
Pre-start-up checks
•
Make sure that the electrical connections match mains voltage on the diagram on the motor data plate. Also turn on the motor briefly to check the direction of rotation.
•
Check the insulation resistance of the winding (400.00 ohm) between the phases and between each phase and earth. Inadequate insulation is not covered under the CIAT
warranty as the cause is always external to CIAT’s supply. All inadequate insulation must be corrected.
•
Check that the winding’s thermal overload protection or cut-out is connected.
•
Check that the start-up system meets the order’s specifications: direct start or addition of a starter. In either case, the calculation of the power transmitted by the belts in not
same and across-the-line starting or add a starter. In either case, calculation of the power transmitted by the belts is not the same. As a result, premature wear of the belts may
not be claimed under the CIAT warranty.
•
Check the that relay fitted contactor thermal settings match the maximum current specified on the motor data plate.
•
Check the fastening of the antivibration mounts.
•
Check the fastening and keying of the removable hubs on the drive and driven pulleys (refer to the maintenance instructions for the removable hubs).
•
Check the alignment of the pulleys with a rule.
•
Check the belt length markings then adjust the tension of the belts in accordance with standard industry practice and the supplier’s recommendations.
•
Check that the FAN and MOTOR shaft ends are horizontal. Make sure that no foreign bodies are inside the fan housing.
•
Turn the IMPELLER by hand to make sure that the shaft does not stick and that the impeller does not touch any part of the fan housing.
•
Lubricate the motor bearings (refer to the manufacturer’s specifications) and the FAN bearings, except for the sealed bearings as they were permanently lubricated in the
factory (see the document on lubrication). Failure to do this will automatically void the warranty.
•
Place the protective housing over the drive, making sure that there is sufficient clearance to prevent it being rubbed by the belts.
During start-up
Follow all special instructions issued by the manufacturer.
Checks after start-up and during normal operation
•
Check the FAN and MOTOR rotation speeds.
•
After running the system non-stop for 15 minutes, check the temperature of the bearing (warm to the touch) and the motor (slightly hot to the touch).
Check that the supply line voltage is normal when the motor is running under load. Inadequate line cross-section may result in voltage drops that could shorten the life of the
winding, in which case the CIAT warranty will not apply.
In the case of three-phase current, check that all three phases are properly balanced. Phase unblance could cause the motor to malfunction and result in motor damage. Such
damage is not covered by the CIAT warranty.
Measure the input current at the MOTOR terminals. It should be no more than the value shown on the MOTOR data plate. The CIAT warranty does not extend to motors
damaged by overload.
