The system is fully operational either in a standalone mode (no
external reference attached) or when genlocked to your facility’s
equipment. The

GENLOCK

lamp on the Sync Gen board illu-

minates when genlock is supplied to the

GENLOCK

connector.

NOTE

Connect external sync only when the
system is OFF. If sync is connected while
an application is running, the system
must be rebooted.

In PAL systems, the PAL Sync Generator does not include 25
Hz offset circuitry; therefore, connection to an external refer-
ence is recommended.

Unlike previous video encoder boards, component video out-
puts are no longer an option. GBR or YUV outputs are avail-
able.

Chroma Enable
(S1, switch 2)

Enables/disables Chroma on output, by
enabling/suppressing Burst

Luma Notch Enable
(S1, switch 3)

Enables/disables Luma Notch filtering,
which, when enabled, suppresses just the
color subcarrier frequency from the Luma
signal, to minimize on-screen color arti-
facts produced when dealing with luma
frequencies that are very close to the color
subcarrier frequency. The notch filter sup-
presses a very narrow range of frequencies
(approx. 400 Hz) around the subcarrier
frequency in use (NTSC: 3.58 MHz, PAL:
4.43 MHz)
