8. OPTION
8.1 Shunt Resistor for Current Input
A DC current input can be measured by connecting a shunt resister
(attached for current input specification) to the input terminals and
converting the current input into a voltage level.
(1) Shunt Resister (Attached) and Measuring Current
Range
The shunt resistor converts DC current input into DC voltage (Refer
to “Shunt Resister and Measuring Range”, the right.).
(2) Connections
Connect a shunt resistor to each channel to measure the DC
current.
Make sure to connect the shunt resistor attached before using.
(3) Measuring Range
When the current input is within the measurement range of 4 to
20mA, the input to the instrument is set to 1 to 5V.

Ex: Connection of Shunt Resister to CH1
For current input, output load resistance is limited at the
current source side (supply side of current input). Confirm that
there is no problem with the shunt resister (250
Ω
).
If measured with the edge of the output load resistance,
matching with the measuring current source side, impact of
connections, and others cause reduction of linearity of current
output, and primary accuracy may not be obtained.
Checking of Output Load Resistance
Connect one shunt resistor to one channel.
Cautions on Connection 1
Make sure to connect the shunt resistor before inputting the
DC current.
If the DC current is input without the shunt resistor, the voltage
of the power source is directly applied and it may cause
damage to the instrument.
Cautions on Connection 2
If the measuring range for current input other than the range of
4 to 20mA is desired, specification of the input range is
required.
The instrument has been set for a voltage input. Before using
the instrument, confirm that the indication is according to the
input by connecting the attached shunt resistor to the
instrument.
