IONTOPHORESIS PATIENT PREPARATION

PATIENT PREPARATION

• Appropriate skin preparation is required for adequate

conduction between the skin and the electrode. Clean

the skin with warm water. Do not use alcohol

• Choose the appropriate size electrode for the body

part (the larger the body part the larger the electrode

required)

• Larger electrodes are more comfortable and prevent

increases in current density

• Apply medicinal substance directly on skin (ointment)

or on gauze between skin and electrode, or inject in

iontophoresis electrode

• Attach the treating electrode over the treatment area

• Return electrode should be separated by at least the

diameter of the active electrode

• Dupel B.L.U.E. iontophoresis electrodes ordering
