1. Perform a visual inspection of the CSAT3BH. Make sure it is clear from anything that might
obstruct the sonic signal. Check for signs that the geometry of the arms has changed in any
way, possibly from an impact from another object.
2. Check all wiring connections between the CSAT3BH and data logger.
3. Check to see if the diagnostic flags are still high.
4. If diagnostic flags persist, remove the CSAT3BH from the site and perform a zero-wind
offset as described in
(p. 86). Check to see if the diagnostic flags are any
different once inside the laboratory.
5. In case the diagnostic flags are related to a bug or corruption of the OS, send a new OS
following the instructions in
If the problems are still unresolved, contact Campbell Scientific. If possible, be prepared to send a
file of CSAT3BH output data, including the diagnostic word, to Campbell Scientific. If it is
determined that the unit must be returned to the factory for recalibration and/or repair, an RMA
will be required (see
(p. 90)).
8.5.1 Troubleshooting CSAT3H heater controller box
issues
The CSAT3H heater controller box passes heater information to the CR6 and is stored within the
HeaterControlData (
(p. 79)). These data can be used to troubleshoot how well the
heaters are functioning. Two diagnostics are triggered if there are potential heater failures:
HeaterFailArm and HeaterFailTransducer. If either of these diagnostics is set to 1, this is an
indication that a heater or thermistor has potentially failed, and the user should contact Campbell
Scientific.
If communication gets interrupted between the CR6 and CSAT3H heater controller box for more
than 15 minutes, heater functionality will cease until communication between the two has been
re-established. If this problem persists, contact Campbell Scientific.
8.5.2 Sending an OS to the CSAT3H heater controller box
To send an operating system (OS) to the CSAT3H controller box remotely and via USB, follow
these steps:
1. Go to File Control on the controller.
2. Click OS Loader.
3. Select Run Now.
4. Press OK.
