CHECK

CAUTION

Before beginning this
procedure, make sure the area
around the vehicle is clear.

While performing this
inspection, the vehicle could
move suddenly. You or others
could be injured and objects
could be damaged.

Be ready to apply the regular
brake immediately if the
vehicle begins to move.

1. Apply the regular brake pedal

and set the parking brake.

See "Parking Brake" in Section
3 for information on how to
properly set and release the
parking brake.

Do not press the accelerator,
and be ready to turn off the
engine immediately if it starts.

2. Try to start the engine in each

gear.

The engine should start only
when the transmission is in

(Park) or

(Neutral). If the

engine starts when the trans-
mission is in any other gear,
see your dealer for service.
