8.7.3

After Updating the Software

If your Compact Flash card slot is on the inside of the computer compartment, close up
the computer compartment:

1.1. Using the 4-mm hex wrench, attach the drawer to the computer chassis by

replacing the two hex bolts that were removed in Section 8.7.1, step 4.

1.2. Using the 2-mm hex wrench, replace the computer compartment top cover that

was removed in Section 8.7.1, step 4.

Push in the drawer, and lock it using the Administrator key.

Power on the SMART X2S by flipping the green power switch.

Figure 8.28 —Power switch

The instrument powers up and the computer boots. The software will automatically
detect that a new card is present, perform some configuration steps, and then restart the
instrument again.

After the computer has restarted the second time, the software update process is
finished and the system is ready to use.
