Surveying the SMART X2S for Radiation Leakage

The SMART X2S should be surveyed for radiation leakage and stray radiation as a closed-beam X-ray
diffraction system in accordance with the following documents:

•

Guide for submission of information on Analytical X-ray Equipment required pursuant 21
CFR 1002.10.

•

National Bureau of Standards Handbook III Radiation Safety for X-ray Diffraction and
Fluorescence Analysis Equipment.

Radiation surveys should only be performed
by—or under the immediate supervision
of—qualified Bruker AXS personnel.

X-ray Emission

1.

Perform the X-ray emission survey with the X-ray tube to be supplied with the
instrument, operated at a power level of 50kV and 1 mA to produce the maximum X-ray
exposure. (Reduce the mA as necessary so as not to exceed the maximum rated power
of the tube.) The test shall be conducted with the supplied optics.
