Remote Access to the SMART X2S’ Frames Directory
NOTE:
The SMART X2S does not have any
intrinsic virus protection software
installed, and is therefore vulnerable to
external network threats. Protecting
your SMART X2S from malware is your
responsibility, and Bruker AXS is not
accountable for any inoperability or
data loss as a result of connectivity to a
network.
8.5.1
Connect the Computer to the SMART X2S
The preferred method of remote access to the data on your SMART X2S’ hard drive is to use an
isolated/private network configuration. This consists of a computer with two separate network cards, a
router with DHCP, and the SMART X2S.
The SMART X2S is set up to obtain an IP address automatically when connected to a DHCP-enabled
intranet connection.
1.
Use a standard network cable to connect the computer’s secondary network interface
card to the router.
2.
Use a standard network cable to connect the Ethernet port on the SMART X2S’ rear to
the router.
3.
Plug the router’s power supply into a standard outlet.

Check that the SMART X2S Has a Dynamic IP Address
NOTE:
Before checking, be sure that the USB
keyboard is connected.
1.
Type [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Del].
2.
Choose
Task Manager
.
3.
Click the
New Task...
button, and type
cmd
.
4.
At the command prompt, type
ipconfig
to reveal the IP address assigned to the
SMART X2S.
