Verify that the StepMetrix
controller has power by following
the Power Troubleshooting Guide.
If power is lacking, restore power to the StepMetrix controller.
2.
Verify that the StepMetrix
controller is operational. Perform
this test if the status indicator light
is not flashing green. See Figure
27 for indicator location.
Reboot the StepMetrix controller as follows:
a. Press the reset button on the power board. See either Figure
14 or 22 for its location
b. Failure of the status light to begin flashing after 5 minutes may
indicate a problem with the hard drive or the control assembly.
c. If the problem persists, see Power Supply Troubleshooting
Table 1f.

Verify that the StepMetrix
controller is operational. Perform
this test if the status indicator light
is flashing green. See fig. 27 for
indicator location.
Reboot the StepMetrix controller as follows:
a. Shut off the circuit breaker to the power supply of the
controller.
b. Wait for LED D28 to turn off. See either Figure 14 or 22 for its
location.
c. Turn on the circuit breaker to the power supply of the
controller.
d. Failure of the status light to begin flashing after 5 minutes may
indicate a problem with the hard drive or the control assembly.
e. If the problem persists, see Power Supply Troubleshooting
Table 1f.
4.
Verify that the Ethernet
communication cables between
the dairy PC and the StepMetrix
controller are satisfactory.
Disconnect and reconnect all Ethernet communication cables at th e
StepMetrix controller, at the dairy PC and, if an Ethernet hub is being
used, at the Ethernet hub.
5.
Verify that the network Ethernet
communication cables are
satisfactory.
Use an Ethernet cable tester to verify the integrity of all CAT 5E cables
in the network.

1. Verify that right and left sensor
modules platforms are defined
correctly.
The StepMetrix sensor modules platforms are defined with respect to
the cow flow direction and the ¾” load cell conduit location during the
calibration procedure. If this was specified incorrectly, repeat the
calibration procedure.
2. Verify that the correct calibration
weight number is entered during
the calibration procedure.
By default, the calibration weight is assumed to be 450 lbs (204.11 kg)
on the StepMetrix sensor module. If the correct weight was not entered
in the Weight field during the calibration procedure, repeat the
calibration procedure with the correct weight
3. Verify that the calibration weights
are centered on the StepMetrix
sensor module.
If the calibration weights overlapped from one side of the StepMetrix
sensor module platform to the other during the calibration procedure,
repeat the procedure with weights that are centered on the StepMetrix
sensor module. Refer to the recommended calibration weights (see
Section 2.5.1).
4. Verify that a minimum calibration
weight of 450 lbs (204.11 kg) is
used.
If less weight was used, repeat the calibration procedure with at least
450 lbs (204.11 kg) of calibration weight.
