3. StepMetrix needs to know the direction of cow flow with
respect to the load cell conduit. Click on the side (Right
or Left) from which the cows are entering the s ensor
module with respect to the lo ad cell conduit and click
Next.
4. It will then prompt you to remove all the weight on the
sensor module and then press the ZERO b utton. Click
Next to proceed.
5. Place the calibration weights (minimum 450 lbs [205
kg]) on sensor module’s side which has the ¾” (19 mm)
load cell conduit. Enter the calibration weight placed on
the sensor module in th e Weight field and press the
WEIGHT button. T he calibration weights must b e
centered along the length and width of the sensor
module. Click Next to proceed (see Figure 29).
6. Place the calibration weights (minimum 450 lbs [204.11
kg]) on sensor module’s side, opposite the ¾” (19 mm)
load cell conduit. Enter the calibration weight placed on
the sensor module in th e Weight field and press the
WEIGHT button.
7. The calibration weights must be ce ntered along length
and width of the sensor module. Click Next to proceed.
8. Click the COMMIT button to commit the calibration.
9. If all the ‘Ca l Status’ and ‘Diff Status’ messages ar e
displayed ‘OK’, click Next to proceed. Click ‘Finish’ to
complete the calibration procedure. If any of the
message is di splayed as ‘F ailure’ or ‘W arning’, go to
Table 1b of the Troubleshooting Section.

Understanding Basic StepMetrix Parts
• StepMetrix step up:
The StepMetrix step up helps
the cow’s transition from floor to t he sensor
module without changing their g ait. It also h elps
to slow down and separate them be fore they
enter the sensor module.

StepMetrix sensor module:
The StepMetrix
sensor module consists of left and right platforms,
which are bolted to the load cells. The force from
the cow’s limbs is transferred to these load cells,
