Cruise control* with
4-cylinder engines
You can find information about cruise control
with 6-cylinder engines starting on page
.
The principle
You can activate the cruise control from a speed
of approx. 30 km/h (20 mph). The car then
memorises and maintains the speed that you
specify using the lever on the steering column.
Do not use cruise control when driving
conditions are unfavourable for driving at
a constant speed. Otherwise you could lose
control of the vehicle and cause an accident as a
result. Unfavourable driving conditions include,
for example, winding roads, heavy traffic or a
poor road surface, e.g. snow, rain, ice or loose
material.

One lever for all functions
1
Memorising and maintaining speed or
accelerating
2
Memorising and maintaining speed or
decelerating

Deactivating cruise control

Recalling a speed memorised beforehand
Maintaining current speed
Tap the lever, arrow
1
, or pull briefly, arrow
2
.
The car's current speed is memorised and
maintained.
If engine braking alone is insufficient on a down-
hill gradient, the set speed may be exceeded. It
may in turn prove impossible to maintain speed
on uphill gradients if current engine power out-
put is insufficient.
Increasing speed
Tap the lever repeatedly, arrow
1
, until the
desired speed is reached.
Each time the lever is tapped, the car's speed
increases by approx. 1 km/h (1 mph).
Accelerating using the lever
Press the lever, arrow
1
, until the desired speed
is reached.
The car accelerates without the accelerator
pedal being pressed. The system memorises
and maintains the speed.
Reducing speed
Pull the lever repeatedly, arrow
2
, until the
desired speed is reached.
Functions analogous to increasing speed or
accelerating, except that the speed is
decreased.
Deactivating cruise control
Tap the lever upwards or downwards, arrow
3
.
In addition, the system is automatically deacti-
vated:
>
When you brake the vehicle
>
When you engage the clutch or place the
transmission in neutral in vehicles with
manual transmission
>
When you move the selector lever to posi-
tion N in vehicles with automatic transmis-
sion
>
When you activate DTC or deactivate DSC
>
When DSC is intervening
Cruise control is not deactivated by pressing
the accelerator pedal. Once the accelerator
pedal is released, the memorised speed is again
achieved and maintained.
Recalling a speed memorised
beforehand
Press button
4
briefly: the speed last memo-
rised is recalled and maintained.
The memorised speed is deleted as soon as the
ignition is switched off.
