The integrated key of the remote control and
the reserve key, see page
16 , fit the luggage
compartment lid lock.
Opening manually
Turn the integrated key of the remote control or
the spare key all the way to the left: the luggage
compartment lid will open.
If you unlock and open the luggage com-
partment lid with the key while the alarm
system is armed, the alarm will be triggered.

Closing
The recessed handles in the luggage compart-
ment lid lining make it easier to pull the luggage
compartment lid down.
To avoid injuries, ensure that the closing
area of the luggage compartment lid is
unobstructed.

Alarm system*
The principle
The alarm system reacts if:
> A door, the engine compartment lid or the
luggage compartment lid are opened
> There is any movement inside the car: Inte-
rior movement detector, see below
> The car's inclination changes, for instance
if an attempt is made to jack it up and steal
the wheels or to raise it prior to towing away
> There is an interruption in the power supply
from the battery.
Depending on the national-market version of
the car, the alarm system indicates unauthor-
ised entry or tampering in different ways:
> Acoustic alarm sounds for approx.
30 seconds
> The hazard warning flashers operate
for approx. 5 minutes

Arming and disarming
Whenever the car is locked or unlocked, either
with the remote control or at the door lock, the
alarm system is armed or disarmed at the same
time.
Even when the alarm system is armed, you can
open the luggage compartment lid by means of
the
button on the remote control, see
page 18 . When you subsequently close the lug-
gage compartment lid it is again locked and
monitored.
On certain national-market versions,
unlocking via the door lock triggers off the
alarm. <

tion lock.
