4. Advanced Functions
4.1 Quality of Service (QoS)
Quality of service provides an efficient way for computers on the network to share Internet bandwidth with a promised quality of
Internet service. Without QoS, all computers and devices on the network will compete with each other to get internet bandwidth,
and some applications that require guaranteed bandwidth (like video streaming and network telephony) would be affected, and
video/audio transfer would also be affected.
With this function, you can limit the maximum bandwidth or give a guaranteed bandwidth for a specific computer.
4.1.1 Basic QoS Settings
Follow these instructions to set QoS parameters:
Click on the “QoS” menu on the left of the web management interface and the following message will be displayed:

Item Description
Enable QoS (1): Check this box to enable QoS function, unselect this box if you don’t want to enforce QoS
bandwidth limitations.
Total Download You can set the limit of total download bandwidth in kbits. To disable the download
Bandwidth (2): bandwidth limitation, input “0” here.
Total Upload You can set the limit of total upload bandwidth in kbits. To disable the upload bandwidth
Bandwidth (3): limitation, input “0” here.
Current QoS Table (4): All existing QoS rules will be displayed here.
Add (5): Click on the “Add” button to add a new QoS rule (See Section 4.1.2, Add a New QoS rule.)
Edit (6): If you want to modify the content of a specific rule, please check the select box of the rule you
want to edit, then click on the “Edit” button. Only one rule should be selected a time! If you
didn’t select a rule before clicking on the “Edit” button, you’ll be prompted to add a new rule.
