Netbios Name Servers
The »Net bi os Na me ser ver« pa ra me ter is used for the na me de fi ni ti on for Wind ows PCs when you use a WINS ser ver
in the LAN. This pa ra me ter should on ly be con fi gu red when you ope ra te a WINS server in the LAN.
Time Servers
The pa ra me ter »Time Ser vers« is used for an noun cing the IP ad dress for the »Time lea see« when your PCs di rect
(Wind ows XP, Li nux) the NTP (Net work Time Protocol).
DNS Servers
DNS que ries from com pu ters in the LAN are nor mal ly for war ded to one or mo re ex ter nal DNS ser vers by the DNS
proxy. The ad dres ses for the ex ter nal DNS ser vers can be ob tai ned dy na mi cal ly, or can be per ma nent ly con fi gu red in
the rou ter. Ad dres ses can be in put at three DNS servers to reduce online time.
DHCP server and IP addressing
PCs can be pro vi ded with a ma jor por ti on of the con fi gu ra ti on re qui red for LAN and In ter net ac cess via the DHCP
(Dy na mic Host Con fi gu ra ti on Pro to col. The DHCP ser ver in te gra ted in to the PABX is ca pa ble of supp ly ing cor re -
spon ding con fi gu ra tions to up to 100 PCs (clients). IP ad dres ses are dy na mi cal ly al lo ca ted to the clients. The DHCP
ser ver task of the PABX sys tem is activated in the initial status of the PABX.
You can con fi gu re the in te gra ted DHCP ser ver un der »Net work ad dress al lo ca ti on«.
You can con fi gu re the first IP ad dress as sig ned by the DHCP ser ver. The re qui red num ber of IP ad dres ses is as sig ned
to the PCs (DHCP clients) in as cen ding or der. The re are al ways 4 ad di tio nal IP ad dres ses re ser ved for DHCP ser vers
for PCs in te gra ted in to the LAN via Blue tooth (see Pa ge 51) or RAS (see Pa ge 77). If the in te gra ted DHCP ser ver is ac -
ti vat ed the 4 IP ad dres ses which co me af ter the con fi gu red DHCP ad dress ran ge are used for RAS clients.
When the DHCP ser vers are de-ac ti vat ed the 4 IP ad dres ses that co me af ter the set DHCP start address will be used
for RAS clients.
If you se lect a con fi gu ra ti on in which so me com pu ters re cei ve their IP ad dres ses via DHCP, whi le ot hers use set (ma -
nu al ly con fi gu red) IP ad dres ses, the fol lo wing cri te ria must be fulfilled:

All IP ad dres ses must be long to the same IP net work, mea ning that the net work part of the IP ad dress (and
with it, the net mask) must be iden ti cal. Ex am ple:

IP-net mask of the PABX: 255.255.255.0
·
Net work part of the IP ad dres ses: 192.168.1.xxx
·
First usa ble IP ad dress:192.168.1.1

One IP ad dress may not be used by more than one client at any one time; with re gard to the ex am ple gi ven
abo ve this me ans that the IP ad dres ses 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.49 and 192.168.1.81 to 192.169.1.249 and
192.168.1.251 to 192.169.1.254 can be used for PCs which have ma nu al ly con fi gu red IP addresses.
