Careening
Your boat’s hull must be covered with an antifouling paint, which
will prevent marine growth adhering to it.
The type of water in which the boat is used will determine the
choice of anti-fouling, as well as how often careening takes place.
Do not hesitate to obtain advice from professionals.
Before applying anti-fouling, never:
- Sandblast.
- Use solvents other than ethyl alcohol.
- Use detergents under pressure.
- Use scrapers.
- Carry out any sandpapering other than a light rub by hand with
wet and dry paper grade 400 or more.
If the anti-fouling has to be cleaned by pressure washing:
- Maximum water temperature will be 15°C.
- Maximum jet pressure will be 150 bar.
- Minimum distance between the nozzle and the hull will be 10
centimetres.
Follow carefully the supplier’s recommendations during the appli-
cation of the anti-fouling.
All these careening operations can be carried out by your BENE-
TEAU dealer.
Sandblasting before applying anti-fouling
attacks the gelcoat.
Very light sanding can be carried out
with wet and dry paper.
attention
When applying anti-fouling, do not cover the
electronic instrument sensors or anodes.
