6.1 Insulation Measurement
During insulation measurement, ensure that
all loads are disconnected from mains.
Prior to any insulation measurement, it has
to be ensured that no installation parts to be
tested are live. Failure to comply with this
warning can lead to instrument damage.
Turn measurement range selection (14)
switch to one of the four „RISO Measurement
Ranges" (1000V/500V/250V/100V).
Connect red test lead to „RISO" socket and
black test lead to „COM" socket.
The display indicates that the instrument is
ready for operation.
Now, you may select between 3 different
threshold values by using the „LIMIT" key
(12). Also refer to chapter 6.1.1.
A resistance between 1k
Ω
and 1.999G
Ω
may be measured in all four insulation
measurement ranges.
Connect test leads via alligator clamps to UUT.
Press „Start" key (15). Display indicates the
current measurement procedure.
Read measurement value on display and com
pare with the threshold values for insulation
resistance indicated in table (6.1.1) or note
LIMIT (exceeding the threshold).
Also refer to chapter 7.0.
External voltage protection for insulati-
on resistance measurement range
When an external voltage of max. 1200V is
applied to insulation measurement sockets by
mistake, the instrument TELARIS ISO will not be
damaged for a duration of 10 seconds. The
instrument displays "Attention" + „UEXT" (also
refer to chapter 7.0). After removal of external
voltage source, wait approximately 30 seconds to
obtain correct measurement results.
