Hardware Configuration Lock
Additional security is achieved using the hardware configuration-lock jumper shown in Figure 15
on page 49. When set to the secure position, configuration and calibration are not permitted by
the local interface or by remote communications. Pushbuttons, ValVue ESD and handheld are
locked out, except to examine configuration, calibration, and position. This is similar to Security
Level 1 shown in Table 7 on page 58.
Modes of Operation
To run setup and calibration the SVI II ESD must be in the correct operating mode. The SVI II ESD
has three modes of operation:
Normal
Manual
Setup
Figure 21 on page 61 illustrates the menu structure of the NORMAL , MANUAL and SETUP modes
of operation. When the SVI II ESD is powered up for the first time it is in the CONFIG (configuration)
mode, since the device needs to be configured.
Device Trip
The SVI II ESD goes to the failsafe state whenever the safety function is triggered or if one of the
critical faults (checksum errors, stack errors, Factory Write Latched Event, or MCU Internal Mal-
function - see Critical status tab in online help) occurs. When tripped,
Tripped appears on the LCD,
as well as on the ValVue ESD's software interface. The trip occurs irrespective of the mode that
the SVI II ESD is in at that moment
.
If the LATCH function is enabled, LATCHED appears on the display when tripped. To reset the latch
condition, either:
Use the local pushbuttons by clicking + three times until the word UNLATCH
appears and then clicking on the * .
or
Use ValVue ESD and go to the alarm page and clicking the button Clear
Latch .
or
Use a handheld or a HART
®
host with the DD or DTM.
or
Wire a button to the DI terminal. The DI terminal resets the LATCH condition
by means of a short circuit on its input.
