5.2 USB Mass Storage Devices
USB mass storage devices include hard drives and memory
sticks.
File Systems Supported
The USB host controller supports the mass-storage file sys-
tems FAT and FAT32.
Connecting the USB Mass Storage Device
A USB mass storage device can be connected either directly
to the USB host controller, or via the USB hub (see the sec-
tion “USB Hub” on page 35).
Configuring Access Rights and Password Protection for the
USB Mass Storage Devices
On the FRITZ!Box Fon user interface you can configure access
rights and a password to protect the USB mass storage de-
vices.
1.
Open a web browser on one of the computers connect-
ed to the FRITZ!Box Fon.
2.
Open the FRITZ!Box Fon user interface (see the section
“Opening the User Interface” on page 23.
3.
Set up the access rights and password protection for
the USB mass storage devices in the “USB Devices /
Mass Storage Device” menu.
The access rights and password are valid for all USB mass
storage devices. It is not possible to assign a different pass-
word for each individual mass storage device.
Accessing the Data in the USB Mass Storage Device
USB mass storage devices connected to the FRITZ!Box Fon
directly or via a USB hub are displayed with their device
name in the “USB Devices / Mass Storage Device” menu on
the user interface.
The data saved on the USB mass storage devices are access-
ed by means of FTP (File Transfer Protocol):
