Logging On

You can log on to the INDeX 30 system using either Kermit (see page 18) or

communication software such as HyperTerminal. When performing Uploads and

Downloads (see pages 36 and 38) Kermit

must be

 used.

Using Kermit

1. Connect the serial cable between your PC Port 1 and Port 1 (RH port viewed

from the front) of the INDeX 30. Only Avaya supplied serial cables should be

used otherwise damage to the INDeX or connected equipment may occur.

2. At your PC, type

c:\kermit

 (or the appropriate directory)

3. Type

Kermit

 and press

The version of Kermit should appear, followed by the

Kermit prompt (

Kermit-MS>

). For uploads and downloads, check that the

version of Kermit is V2.29b (that version only and not higher or lower).

4. At the Kermit prompt, type

set port 1

to select the PC serial port. Use

set port ?

to display help.

5.  At the Kermit prompt, type

set baud 9600

or the baud rate required (use

set

baud ?

 to display information). INDeX 30 supports , 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800,

9600, 19200 and 38400 baud.

6. At the Kermit prompt, type

c (

for connect) and press

 twice.

7. If there is no response or a garbled response, change the baud rate setting

being used.  If okay, the

INDeX Administration

 menu will appear.

Note and record the INDeX CPU serial number for future reference (required for

the issue of any future licence key).

8. Enter the

Username>

 and press

 The

Password>

 will appear. Enter your

programming password and press

.

Remember that the INDeX 30 is case sensitive.

After three incorrect logon attempts, the INDeX 30 locks the programming port

for one hour. You can reset the system by switching the power off and on again

or you may use the other serial port.

9. If the password is OK, the resources menu is displayed; stating software version

level and language being used. Press

to display the

 Administration

menu.
