Removing a filler panel
Before you can install a new module, you must remove the appropriate filler panel.
Avaya ships the Ethernet Routing Switch 8310 and 8306 chassis with a filler panel covering
each empty module slot.
Caution:
For proper chassis cooling, a filler panel must cover each empty module slot. Do not operate
the Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 Series chassis with an empty module slot.
1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the two captive screws that fasten the filler
panel to the slot.
2. Pull the filler panel from the slot.
Installing a filler panel
If you plan to remove a module from the chassis without immediately replacing it, you must
install a filler panel in the slot. To maintain proper airflow and cooling, always cover unused
module slots and power supply bays with filler panels.
1. Locate the slot where you want to install the filler panel.
2. Place the filler panel over the slot.
3. Tighten the two screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
4. Do not overtighten the screws.
Removing a module
Voltage:
Due to high-energy hazards greater than 240 VA, use only qualified service personnel to
install and replace Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 Series Modules components.
