The following figure shows the 8393 SF/CPU module.

Figure 19: 8393 SF/CPU module

The 8393 SF/CPU module consists of system status LEDs, a management port, a console

port, eight 1 Gb/s SFP ports, a reset button, and a PC card slot.

 Warning:

Fiber optic equipment can emit laser or infrared light that can injure your eyes. Never look

into an optical fiber or connector port. Always assume that fiber optic cables are connected

to a light source.

You can install 8393 SF/CPU module in slots 5 and 6 of the 8306 and 8310 chassis to enable

redundant operation. The redundant module in slot 6 can assume the processing duties of a

failing primary 8393 SF/CPU module in slot 5.

The two 8393 SF/CPU modules share switch fabric functions of the switch. If one 8393 SF/

CPU module fails, the system reverts to the operating 8393 SF/CPU module. The switch fabric

LEDs and the CPU LEDs serve with a single 8393 SF/CPU module.

The following figure shows the location of the 8393 SF/CPU module LEDs.
