7.9.1 Using the screening drum
Before starting to use the screening drum
The screening drum mounts on the shaft of the multi function drive unit. Always make sure the screening drum
is properly mounted before beginning to use it.
Operating the screening drum:
DANGER
Risk of severing of fingers - Never put your fingers through the holes of the
screening drum.
The holes of the screening drum can easily cut fingers, if the screening
drum rotates by means of hydraulic oil flow from the loader, when turned manually, or
because of material shifting in the drum due to gravity. Never reach into the screening
drum.
WARNING
Risk of entanglement - Keep a safe distance to the screening drum. Start the
attachment only when beginning to use it. Do not leave the equipment running
unattended. Do not go near the equipment when another person operates the controls of
the loader. Stay back if other person operates the controls of the loader. Never reach into
the screening drum while it is in use. Follow the safe stopping procedure before going
near the screening drum.
Avoid damaging the screening drum. Never use the full force of the loader boom,
the screening bucket is not intended to withstand it.
The screening drum is not intended to pick up heavy or packed materials as a bucket.
The drum will get bent or otherwise damaged if it is used to pick dense, packed, or heavy
materials. Also, when handling light materials, lifting from a pile must never be done in a
way that puts heavy load and strain on the attachment.
Never push the screening drum into or against a pile.
Fill the screening drum manually with a shovel, or carefully pick material from ground or a pile. Only loose and
light materials can be picked in this way. Never use the loader boom in a way that puts the screening drum
under high stress.
To avoid damaging the screening drum:

Empty the screened material before filling the drum with the next batch

Do not push the screening drum into a pile

Do not tilt the attachment up towards the loader, if the edge of the drum is in a pile
To start the attachment, turn the auxiliary hydraulics control lever of the loader to its locked position. The
screening drum should be rotated slowly (low loader engine rpm).
