EXERCISE 3-13
Cleaning the valve
1. Remove and discard the priming port stopcock.
2. Remove the metal fluid reservoir elbow by loosening the screws with a 3/32-inch hex key,
and use soft cloths and swabs to clean it.
3. Remove and clean the dispensing tip, using the bottlebrush and soft cloths.
4. Clean the stopcock insert of dried or hardened fluid or discard as needed.
5. Loosen the lower pumping chamber/stopcock body assembly screws using a 3/32-inch
hex key.
6. Remove the flow control stopcock from the pumping chamber.
7. Remove and clean the plastic priming port luer elbow using the bottlebrush and soft
cloths.
8. Remove the two seals and the Delrin spacer using the seal removal tool.
9. Clean the seals and Delrin spacer using the small bottlebrush, soft cloths, and swabs.
10. Clean the pumping chamber using the bottlebrush, soft cloths, and swabs.
11. Place the pumping chamber, Delrin, spacer, and all other re-usable parts into an ultrasonic
cleaner with the appropriate solvent.
12. Inspect the interior of the pumping chamber to ensure that all residual material has been
removed.
EXERCISE 3-14 Reassembling
the valve
1. Insert and tighten the priming port luer elbow.
2. Install one seal, ringside down, into the top of the pumping chamber using the seal
installation tool.
3. Install the white Delrin spacer on top of the seal.
4. Install the remaining seal on top of the white spacer, ringside down.
5. Attach the pumping chamber assembly to the stopcock body assembly.
6. Tighten the securing bolts using a 3/32-inch hex key.
7. Insert the metal fluid reservoir elbow into the stopcock body assembly.
9. Tighten the stopcock body securing bolts using a 3/32-inch hex key.
