STUDENT GUIDE
LESSON 1 The Needle Sensor
OBJECTIVE: Upon completion of this lesson, the student should be able to
verify the sensitivity of the needle sensor and adjust the sensor, if necessary.
NEEDLE SENSORS
THE NS
SERIES
•
Used for Century Series systems.
•
Uses a fiber optic LED infrared sensor to locate and record the XYZ
location of the needle.
•
Also used to determine the XYZ location of the Height Sensor Probe in
relation to the needle.
•
Allows you to change needles and continue production without
reprogramming the dispensing system.
•
Can automatically compensate for XYZ changes in needle location due
to a needle change or bent needle and between production runs, thus
minimizing operator error and eliminating wasted time spent manually
adjusting the needle.
THE NSZ
SERIES
In addition to the features included in the NS Series, the NSZ Series includes
a Load Cell, which is used to calculate the Z-height of the needle tip during
the Calculate Master Offsets routine in FMW.
