and ceramic are suitable for microwave cooking through particular sub-
stances. As transparent containers transfer energy the most comforta-
bly, they are ideal for use in microwave ovens.
Container test: You can use this envisaged method for checking whether
or not the container you will put your food is suitable for microwave.
Place an empty container on glass tray in the microwave by placing a
cup of water on the container and operate it at maximum power level for
1 minute. The containers overheated as a result of this process should
not be used.
• Metal containers reflect microwave far away from food. Therefore, do
not use these metal containers. Small pieces or aluminum foil in strips
can be used to cover the remaining parts at the ends such as thin parts
of wings or legs or joints of poultry. Flat food trays with edge depth less
than 1.5 cm may also be used; however, in this case, baking paper or
stretch films are used instead of foil containers.
• Avoid using very thin glass containers and lead crystals.
• Melamine containers or caps and bags used for freezing or preservation
purpose should not be used.
• Any paper should not be used for the cooking process with a longer
period in the oven. This causes ignition of paper.
• As microwave energy makes board structure dry and brittle, large board
containers should not be used.
